Solvay — Global Document Management (5 Countries)

Role
Documentum Specialist & Engineer Support at Solvay (via TIVIT) — a Belgian multinational chemical company with €10B+ in revenue and operations in 61 countries. HQ in Lyon, France. Worked remotely from Brazil serving the European operation.
What I built
- Supported 12 departments across 5 countries with the enterprise document management platform (Documentum) — serving 150+ enterprise users
- Customized 8 Java workflows reducing document approval time by 40%
- Resolved 200+ technical issues monthly across time zones
- Managed cross-timezone collaboration between Brazil and European headquarters
Enterprise at global scale
This was my first experience working for a multinational European company across multiple time zones and cultures. Managing document workflows for a chemical company with strict regulatory compliance taught me that enterprise systems live and die by their specifications — every approval path, every permission, every edge case must be defined before implementation.
What I learned
Supporting 12 departments in 5 countries with different languages, regulations, and workflows taught me that specification is a universal language. It doesn’t matter if you’re in São Paulo or Lyon — the spec is the contract.
